TAMBOURINE PLAYER AT CHURCH SERVICE TASED AFTER BEING EJECTED. PRAISE THE LORD?!?
It seems to me that this congregation could use a refresher on ‘welcoming the stranger and alien in their midst.’
From sparkhouse publishing for Holy Week and Easter. What do you think folks?
Hmmmm…..pancakes. This reminds me of my maternal grandmother Topsy. She made sourdough pancakes nearly every morning I knew her. She was one of the first people that I cooked with.
It’s really winter again here in New England today. The snow is falling at a rate of 1-2” an hour at this point.
It’s a day when nearly all are home except those with ‘essential’ jobs. For the health care workers, plow operators, fire, police and EMT I offer my prayers of thanksgiving and petitions for safety.
On days like this I’m keenly aware of the contribution they make to our common life and the sense of security that we enjoy and too often take for granted. With each plow that passes and each emergency vehicle that I see or hear I offer prayers on this day.
I am also aware that the seemingly superfluous letter carriers and other delivery drivers are challenged by this work and risk for the sake of our comfort and consumption.
I pray God keep all safe and warm during this storm, especially at-risk populations that find the security that we enjoy elusive. May we all be generous with our prayers for them and generous with the abundance that God has given us.
Remember the words from the Letter of James (1:27-2:5)—
27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
2 My brothers and sisters, do you with your acts of favoritism really believe in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ? 2 For if a person with gold rings and in fine clothes comes into your assembly, and if a poor person in dirty clothes also comes in, 3 and if you take notice of the one wearing the fine clothes and say, “Have a seat here, please,” while to the one who is poor you say, “Stand there,” or, “Sit at my feet,” 4 have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? 5 Listen, my beloved brothers and sisters. Has not God chosen the poor in the world to be rich in faith and to be heirs of the kingdom that he has promised to those who love him?
Lord, sometimes I just wanna……….
Reasons Not to Go to Church
Thanks to my friend and parishioner Chris Wychorski for this one.
